A bigger steam vent?

Member Posts: 4
My vents at the end of the line are hissing pretty loud, and pressure is low, so my guess is that I need more of them. (I have Hoffman #75's now.) Question: is there a bigger vent out there? Given the cost of the #75, I'd like to add a bigger one rather than two or three #75s. Is there such an animal? Thanks, Dan

steam vent
check out heat timers vari vent straight or angle
no float to get damaged from water hammer(wont stop a runaway fill)
1/5 the cost of #75 and vents much faster(try blowing through them with your mouth)also look at heatimers lit on them0 -
question for ken
Ken, thanks for the reply! I've got a couple of ignorant questions: (1) The heat timer website says that the vents you mentioned are for single pipe systems, and mine is two-pipe. Does that affect your advice? (2) The info on the website doesn't explain the difference between the main vents and radiator vents; it just has one picture. Are they different? (3) Do you have any idea why the Hoffman is so comparitively expensive? Thanks, Dan0 -
big vents
Look at Gorton #2 vents for your 2 pipe system. These are big, fast vents that work very well.

Sizing Main Vents
is done by calculating the amount of air in the main. We then compare that amount to what the vent will handle at 2 ounces or so.
If you measure the length and diameter of your steam mains, we can tell you if the #75 is the right size. If you have more than one main, post the information for them all.
If a bigger one is needed, the Gorton #2 is great. It has four times the capacity of a Hoffman #75.
