Tiger Loops and Flexible Lines

Why is it that I only see Tiger Loops and flexible lines installed on high end jobs? Are they that expensive or is it just the final touch of a high end job?

I'd think with the new swinging doors on oil burners for cleaning, a flexible line would be SO much nicer than removing the copper everytime to clean.

Just curious...

    What is high end?

Sometimes you need to read the fine print.I use Buderus. Many perceive this as a "high end" boiler.IMO it is a high quality appliance. Its price is very very comparable to American makes.I have had no issues with this company as I have in the past with others.

The accessory trims that are shipped with the boiler package includes a flexible oil connector. This is part of the package. As far as the tiger loop goes I use this when I install Roth tanks. This avoids the second pipe.

    I agree with Cheese.

I haven't installed an oil fired boiler in a years that I didn't use a 10 micron fuel filter, Tiger Loop and flexible lines. Like Cheese, I only offer the double wall fuel tanks and they all feed from the top of the tank. Almost all of the oil fired stuff now has swing open doors so flexible lines are mandatory, to me anyway. Although, I must be an anomaly around here since every radiant system I pick up for service with an oil boiler, has copper right up to the fuel unit. Go figure.

    Oil Stuff

I'm with HB, we only use flex lines and always a TigerLoop. Even found an Oventrop oil filter that takes varied micron sintered filters and prevents water from entering the burner. (See Blueline Supply and Chris Rorke) This is considered "high-end" because most techs have very little oil background. Anything beyond a General filter is foreign. Those who service oil appliances regularly and own the right tools (digital combustion analyzer) usually find their way to the better equipment, filters and setups that makes servicing easier and more dependable.

    Tiger Loop

Stupid question time, do the bowls fill "themselves" , or does one fill it manually?
