Wirsbo

I just visited a job where the contractor had to cut through some tubing in the slab for a remodel project. He cut through the 5/8" Wirsbo tubing and it's been tough trying to find ANY 5/8" tubing and connectors. There aren't any Wirsbo stocking distributors in the Bay Area, sorry to say.
My question is: is the outside diameter of Wirsbo the same as other tubing, or is it "special"?
Thanks for the help.
P.S. Cheese, you bum. Now what am I going to do with that $600 I had for Lisa?

What you would need is a R20 splice nipple with 2 5/8" compression assemblies.Heatlink also has a 5/8" coupling that would be compatible.
Good Luck

Can you find
one of these expander tools? This is my prefered in slab 5/8" repair fitting. I'll send it you're way if you need it.

Couplings
I wouldn't advise a mechanical coupling within a concrete slab or gyp pour for patching. The aquapex couplings/expander method is preferred.

5/8 tubing
hsc used to carry it ....radiant pro...i bought some from him a couple of years ago0 -
Rauhau tubing is the same
so if you have one of their suppliers nearby, you can use thier fittings.

Wirsbo tube
The Wirsbo Heat tubing must be Hepex plus to be compatable with their expansion system in our area at least we started getting the new tubing about mid 1999. The older tube may leak with expansion fittings.

this tool
is what I use for 5/8" inslab repairs. It expands then slides a heavy brass ring over the coupling. I'd be leary of compression in the slab also. Make a map of where the repairs are, just in case
I be happy to ship my tool to you if you need it.

I've got about
the same tool for Rehau, hot rod, but cannot find any 5/8" Everlock couplings and by the sound of it, not all PEX A can be expanded without damage (thank you, John Abbott); I'm still not clear on that.
So if Wirsbo has the same o.d. as Rehau, all I need is the tube and compression connectors. Yes, I'm leery of compression connectors in the slab as well, but the choices are limited. I've already told the contractor to map the locations and we'll pressure test it to 100#; we will ever wrap the joints with some heat shrink sleeves.
Anything else?
Thanks to everyone.
