The Oldest Steam System I worked on

can be found In SOHO on Prince Street in Manhattan.

This steam system is a two pipe vapor air vent system installed a six story loft building.

I went to this building to find a solution to remove severe banging conditions that plagued the building for forty years.

While I was in the building I found two radiators that I think would intrest many of the steam people on this site.

These radiators are wrap around a column cast iron radiators. The column is 36" in Diameter.

The radiators were made by AA Griffing and Copmpany and patented on Sept 22 1874 and June 8, 1886. This building was built and the heat installed in 1890.

I hope the attatchments come out see the pictures.

Not the inlet supply is 1 1/4" and the outlet is 1".

The original valves and vent valve is still on the rads.
