When plumbing with potable PEX....

Color this one Oops!

Remodeled 1800's farm house. New addition added with PEX homerun potable system - blue for cold & red for hot. Decided to run down an outside wall, rather than through the radiant slab. Along came the insulators & job wraps up. Meanwhile - frigid weather sets in & our lines freeze - repeatedly.

Insulator removed the siding today & our potable PEX lines were on the cold side of the fiberglass! He pushes them to the side & asked "Where's the water lines?" He thought they were electric lines(G). Alls well that ends well.

Why the outside wall? Because of the radiant floor & other considerations. We don't normally use exterior walls for water lines.
