I thought y'all might like to see a pretty cool retro from electric baseboard to continuous circulation with panel Radiators, baseboard and even a little staple up,we used a 260 Tekmar to control the Hot Water Maker and vary the water temp based on outdoor temp. The staple up is controled by a Oventrop Uni-Box Plus. The Mech. on the job was Rich with Riddle Mech. He is a former Red Rocks Student of Mark E.
I have never posted pic's on the wall b-4 so I hope this works...I will send more pics.
The job is now up and running & working great.

    Slant/Fin CB-90

In retofits(or any job), it is fun to put in a boiler that you can turn the BTU'S down (and up) on. We tell contractors to set up these boilers well below the calculated heatloss, we crank the boiler as low has we can...we know we can always come back and turn the Boiler Back up...WE DO NOT LIKE TO WASTE BTU'S UP THE STACK! Radiator Envy...

It is good to know someone has a little "Radical Envy"...
These Rad's are made by Dianorm. They seem to have thought of everything...as you can tell the tappings are
on the lower bottom of each rad, it makes for a clean piping arrangement.
Dianorm also furnishes a "rough-in" template with it's
product that takes the guess work out of positioning the piping. The template also has has a built in "U" tube that
can be hooked up to the systems piping, it lets the you pressure test the system, and install the the rad's after all of the other trades have left the job.
Thanks for the "Rad" envy! -Greg

    Possible concern

Greg, I have a concern about the placement of the Tekmar sensor which may or may not be relevent.

If the radiator valves are capable of completely stopping the flow through them and all the rooms are satisfied at one time, there will be no flow past the sensor and the boiler and bypass loop will go to high limit. You might want to move the sensor to the outlet of the circulator before the bypass tee to get an accurate reading at these times.

If the valves only throttle the flow down, then it shouldn't be a concern.

P.S. I, too, have radiator envy.

    Thought so- Looking Good

Can't say I have radiator envy though- my house is full of old cast-iron American Peerless beauties!

The concept of using one boiler to fill a range of ratings isn't new. Check this out- it's from the 1929 Ideal Fitter catalog from American Radiator Co. Note how the Arco Round Boilers can serve a range of different amounts of radiation- and that their efficiency (which wasn't great to begin with) drops noticeably as the radiation load increases.

ME, you have taught them well. Look out, Dave Lennox!

Thanks steamhead! the cool thing about the Slant/Fin CB's

Greg, where did you get those Dianorms? Are they easy to come by in North America? I looked at their web site and remembered that I don't speak german. Are those T-Stats on them Oventrops?

Now I hate my baseboards even more! L

Since we're getting all technical, should the circ not be inverted like that?

    Very nice installation!

I've been a rad lover for years now
