Disturbing news from UK Gary

Just curious, what is "The Piers" and what's wrong with Gary UK/USA?

He does great installs and I used to love the pics and descriptions of the interesting and ancient steam systems he would post here in his UK days.

I wish him my best and hope he's on the road to recovery.

Regards,
Jim

    From the Piers

I read about former UK Gary and his health woes over at The Piers. It sounds like he will have to return to the UK because he cannot afford to live here on the disability pay he is receiving. It is a sad state of affairs.

has had back surgery and is looking at a long recovery. It will be difficult to maintain staying here in USA without a job and looking at long recovery and the possibility of not being able to work at his trade in the future.

"The Piers" is another web site that Gary also posted his many intereting posts. It is www.thepiers.net then click on pier one and the info on Gary is there.

    It is sad to

see one go through all the trouble Gary and his family went through to get to the US (A huge dream of his) but lack the resources to make it work out. He had a lot of support and help along the way, guess it just wasn't enough. Maybe someday he will again try and succeed. Not many even give it a go and put forth the effort as Gary and his family has. Gary, I wish you well as you always wished us the same and I hope your injury doesn't keep you from moving forward with other dreams you may have. Keep in touch and please let us know how your all doing...the nice thing about the internet is there are very few barriers that can stand in your way of keeping close with all your friends here in the states and UK...

I found the Piers site Timmie, Thanks. I was sad to read about Gary's misfortune. I was in a similar situation a couple of years ago with a knee injury that laid me up for a few months. Basic disabilty insurance pays a fraction of your salary, couple that with underinsured medical expense and watch your savings evaporate! It was a tough, at the time it seemed like we'd lose everything, but we made it. Now after a few years it's just a distant memory. I pray it works out for Gary.
