Tekmar snowmelt sensor problems (ME)

Have had two sensors in the last week that couldn't "see" obvious snow. Haven't had the chance to get back up to the jobs with ohm chart in hand but thought I'd see if anyone else is having problems.

    Sensors

If you are talking about the 090 sensor, I have had 2 go bad this last season. It is sure a high $$$$ sensor and was thinking it was just me. I tested the redblack leads and had a ohm reading that was out of the norm. We did try cleaning the unit and adjusting the sensitivity, but it was a bad sensor. 1 job was off of a dirt road and the dust seemed to collect around the 090 like a magnet. We had a 665 controller, and with the new sensor, it roured back to life.

    Mark,

I have had three 090 sensors fail this year. All were less than five years old. One failed during the two foot snowstorm we had several weeks ago. The homeowner was a little unhappy to say the least. I saved one to send back to tekmar to see what's going on. -DF

    I don't remember the #

But I had one go bad that was the "in the slab" variety (tenperature only) Paul replaced it with another, and I haven't had any more problems. Kevin

  • 2/3's of problem solved...

Took a trip to the mountains yesterday, and found that two of the problems were mine. (Wiring issues...)

Am still waiting for the third one to thaw out to the point that I can work it over,

Did hear from a reputable source that they had experienced some issues with the epoxy sealants used to seal the terminal connections on the back of the 090 sensors, but those units have supposed been pulled from the shelves.

Will advise after I figure out whats going on with the third.
