What is the gas pressure at the
inlet of the gas valve. Pilots are not regulated so this will be the pressure that is going to the pilot.
What did you get for millivolt readings? You could have a faulty magnet in the gas valve. You need to check the millivolts to determine that.
You could also have a combustion problem, did you test flue gases and air requirements for the equipment area.
There could also be a problem with the LP gas. Have you had extremely cold temps. Have the LP guys check it out. Make sure the tank has a methanol charge in it to prevent lazy LP.
If you e-mail me your postal address I will send you a procedure for testing, free of charge to you.0 -
Application
of the gas valve? LP gas, as Timmie pointed out, is suseptable to freeze-up if there is moisture in the gas. Do you have other appliances on the system that have standing pilots? If so, do you have to relight their pilots also? (water heater). The vr8200 is a relatively new style control. It may be on a piece of equipment that incorporates safety switches wired in series with the thermocouple. These switchs might be located at a vent or burner area. They usually are the manual reset type but with time they can get tempermental. Be sure to check the main burner for proper combustion and draft. Also, check the strength of the pilot it should not be lazy at all. Since LP pilots are usually .010, .011, etc it doesn't take much to reduce them, clean the air passages, use full line pressure they should not be adjusted like natural gas pilot. Finally, since the pilot holds for 2 hours and is easy to relight the problem probably is not the vr8200. Check the whole system. Herb Gibbs, Gibbs Gas Service0
