i gather? could it be convection currents from the warmer piping below grade?

My original hose bib (1922) is installed about 4' from the foundation. ½ galvanized supply about 20" below grade. Pipe extends about 18" ABOVE grade. Nice bronze angle globe valve that seems original.
Have never found it frozen even in the coldest weater, zero or thereabouts.0 -

Kind of a flippant response I know , but after the couple of weeks we had before this one up here , I wouldn't complain about something NOT freezing .

you sound mad at the weather. here in cleveland we just accept it..know why? cause it gets cold here...know why? cause its cleveland...makes for good heating seasons...be happy.0 -

where is the pipe located? south side of the house? could be
the pipe is absorbing radiant energy from the sun. did you ever check it when the sun wasn't out?
