sheetrocked house

Depending on how far along the house is(still in taping mode?) and if they are using carpet, another idea would be to use some quick trac panels on the ceiling on the sheetrock and resheetrock the ceiling with 1/4 material. We,ve done this in the past as a retro fit in a hot air house. It worked well.
If they are looking for warm floors then this will not work, but still better than hot air.

    You need insulation

I did an old farmhouse, and we pulled up two floorboards perpendicular to the joists and blew the cavities full of cellulose. It was easy to blow it full once we had the boards up.
Maybe you could snap a couple chalk lines, rip a patch out 6 or 8 inches wide that would let you blow all the joist cavities full.
I wanted to just lay down r-foil underneath, but became convinced that it wouldn't work correctly without an air gap. If you do a search in the archives, maybe you can find the old posts that we did about all this insulation stuff. I think they told me that I wanted to have 6 times the R value under the floor as over the floor. Be careful what carpet pad you use as well. I think the waffle pad is less R than the others. Kevin
