    Low-E

Have used it to insulate 2-1/2" steam mains with excellent results. Have also used it under wood shingles as a infiltration barrier and reflective insulation with excellent results. Slab Shield makes an excellent pad for rugs on concrete basement floors with out radiant heat. Use it to insulate cold water storage tanks to prevent condensation. Try any of these products and I am sure you will like them.
    Good Luck!

It's a lot more fun under a slab than rigid foam

Walking on it doesn't bust it up.
If it blows away, you can drag it back, (in one piece) and it has the foil radiant barrier that I'm sold on. Also the plastic barbed staples work GREAT in the stuff. -I garonteeeee. Kevin

    What's your application?

Its benefits and drawbacks really depend on what you want to use it for.

You can get good results if you use it to reject heat, usually to cut down on heating loads in cooling applications.

Check out these links, info and more reading (your tax dollars at work):

The difference between what third party studies say, versus what manufacturers claim, is interesting, I think.

If you want to really check it out, go to http://www.dogpile.com/ and do a search on "radiant barriers" in quotes - it treats it as a phrase, not as separate words.
