Support for Lisa

I'll gladly support you Lisa because I love kids.

But I'm also going to ask for some support in the way of prayers. Some of you Wallies know what my daughter Stevie has been through. Well our family is facing an even greater challenge now. My 14 year old daughter has been fighting Anorexia Nervosa for almost two years now and is not doing well. Her name is Allison and she is as beautiful as she is smart--No. 1 in her 8th grade class--that is part of her problem too, she puts so much pressure on herself.

She is the nicest human being I have ever met. I have never heard her say an unkind word about anyone. And she is so considerate and caring dfor other people but she just can't see what she is doing to herself.

We've put her in the best eating disorder facilities in the world this past summer--3 months away from home--very,very, far from home too. It broke our hearts to do it.

But I'm her Dad. I have to make the tough calls to ensure her well-being. I won't let anything happen to her while I'm standing guard.

But I could use some prayers from all of you who believe in a Higher Power.

We had to call 911 Saturday night and have been in and out of hospitals, doctor's offices and testing facilities ever since. Tomorrow we'll be at Children's Memorial for much of the day having more tests done.

So all I'm asking is that when you hits your knees tonight, put in a word for Ally. She truly is an Angel on Earth.

Thanks, Steve

I'm sorry to hear the problems that she is facing. No telling what the Lord has in store for her and this may just be training..

You can count on me, Steve

What a heart breaker. But Jesus does indeed love the little children. And he hears and answers prayer.

    She'll be in my prayers.

    Jim.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Being the parent of a
7 year old little angel, with special needs. I know first hand the things you do for your children. Just know it is unconditional love you share with you daughter. She loves you just as much you love her. Nothing like the smile a little girl has for her daddy. Good luck will be thinking about you.

Steve, a wise man once told me that human suffering is G-ds way of helping us grow to be bigger better people. My prayers are with you and your family. May your daughter have a complete recovery and may all involved become bigger better people!

Steve, I was in the hospital this evening with my daughter Toni. for something no where near as serious as what you're dealing with. I promise you, your daughter, you and your family will be in my prayers.

    Respectfully,

    I'm grateful

for the kind words and prayers. I've had my fair share of physical and emotional problems(anger, depression) but I would take my daughters' diseases from them in a heartbeat if I could. There ought to be an age limit for serious disease. like 25 or something--maybe 55 for daughters.

When I die and I have a sitdown with the Lord, if I'm allowed a question it will be "Why do so many children have to suffer"?

  • Steve, I have dealt with this

condition several times in my ministry in the church. I will definitely pray for her.

If you would do this and believe me I would not tell you to do this if I had not seen it work hundreds of times. It is not some kind of magic it is in the Word of God. You and your wife join hands and lay your hands on Allison and pray this. "In the name of Jesus, Allison and by His stripes you are healed and made whole, we plead the precious blood of Jesus over you, and Jesus we thank you that our daughter Stevie is healed."

Do that every day until you see a definite change. My friend in the last 33 years I have seen blind eyes open, deaf ears made to hear and even the dead raised by a simple prayer and faith in what Jesus did for us on the Cross. We love you and your family and will believe with you for a healing.

    Fair question

And one for which there is no answer. The best we can hope for is to learn from the pain of others and in so doing, become better human beings. If nothing else, our presence on this earth should be a meaningful one and in some way or other improve the lot of others. For most of us, our legacy is the life we have lived - for those that suffer, their existence becomes a testament to the spirit - the spirit that is so often forgotten in our daily trevails. It is easy for me to be glib in my unassailed life but the challenge currently faced by you and your family could be likened to the jeweller's polishing tools - and the precious stone that sparkles with life.

I hope your daughters continue to shine in the glare of your love.
