I started in this trade shortly after getting a degree in Culinary Arts. Helping a friend of my Dad's 2 days a week. I was making more in those two days, then a full week cooking. I had school loans to think about, and thought it might be nice to get those off my back. I took a few breaks from the trade, due to layoffs, and a desired to serve my country (Navy). I got my Journeyman's lic in 1995, my masters in 97. I have been in buisness since 96. A total of about 15 yrs in the trade.

I try not to think about it

But I turned 50 last summer and have been in the HVAC trade since 1971. Radiant work for about 6 years. We're in the west suburbs of Chicago. I've got four kids, one is 47 :), one grandson and one in the oven. Harvey

    45 years young

Started the long and winding road in this business in March 1978, I have not always liked my job, but I love my career choice. Travelled quite a-bit in the 80's, had the pleasure of working with many talented people & the good fortune of working with some not so talented, that's correct, not only learned what to do but also what not to do(and sometimes I actually remember the difference :-)). This experience of working in many areas of the country also helped open my mind and shed light on the "because we have always done it this way " mind set. Which reminds me I'am overdue to change the bulb up there, the areas been kind of dim lately :-)

and many, many grey hairs to show for my 31 years in the business. My kids swear they had nothing to do with the hair thing!

    How old / How long

Went to college in '80 for HVAC eng. technology.I couldn't find related work during my one work term so I helped out our local plumber and never looked back.Been doing radiant for about 8 years now and in this area that makes me an old man.I'm looking foward to the day that I can take the Plumbing off Dobbyn Plumbing & Heating.I'm 42 and still kicking butt and taking names.

I'm 47. Started in the business in 72. Have had both knees worked on, 2 hernia's, 5 lower back surgeries. Still going strong, when I can get my shoes on in the morning. Still love the challenges of solving problems for customers. I especialy enjoy the heat side. Fortunately, I don't work in the field to much anymore and when I do I usually just direct traffic, so to speak.
