We're doing a job where owner wants to put tube in a mud set shower stall with seat. The membrane the plumber is using is 6 ply EPDM? How can we fasten the PEX to the membrane before the tile setter starts? Thanks for your help.

    Thinset

I doubt that you'll have enough room in the thinset to get 1/2" pex in there. The bare minimum is usually around 1 1/4" thick.

What I would do is use extruded aluminum plates screwed beneath the subfloor on 8" centers and snap your pex into that. That should keep your toes toasty.

You can also get creative and staple the tubing beneath the seat with plates also. There are further design requirements needed and hopefully your heating contractor is aware of these.

    Shower power

For pex you can use any of the track style holders to help hold spacing. On PAP jobs we lay in the 3/8 tubing and the setters cover it with a first coat of thinset. Once set they return with more thinset and lay the tiles. Dan
