On a call for heat do both circulators run? I've seen units wired incorrectly. Just a thought.

I currently have 2 zone on my gas fired forced hot water sys.
I have 2 circulators, but it appears that on a call for heat from either thermosat the entier sys. receives heat.
it appears to me I need some type of check valve arraingment?
If so what type and where to locate?
Thanks for your time0 -
Flo-checks on both supplys

Flow-checks.
On supply AND return would be a terrific idea!

Is this a new system?
Circulator manufacturers have finally started adding internal check valves to some of their pumps. If your system is new, maybe you have these pumps and one of the check valves is stuck or has debris and not allowing it to close. Could this be it?

Flow Checks
I think HeatBoy is going in the right direction. Is this a new system, how long have you had this problem problem, and has it ever work before? These would be the questions to start with. As far as a flo-check on the feed AND return, I have never heard of both on a residential job. As long as you have one on each zone and they are on the discharge side of the circ you should be fine.

Zone Trouble
My sys. has always been like this but I just resently discovered this problem.
There are no flow control valves on either zone, my circulators are on the return side of the boiler, if
I add a flow control valve to each zone on the discharge side of each zone will this slove my problem?

Yes
Judging from your last post, your system is not really all that new. Seeing that your circulators are on the return you can put the flo-checks on the feed side of those zones, this would still be the discharge side of the circ and easier to install.
Good Luck

insufficient heat in zones
we have a Quietside 120k input 107.5k output, 4 zones to heat 2000 square feet. It is hot water baseboard with(oil) two beacon morris kickspace heaters. Our kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom are on a crawlspace which is enclosed by plywood. The Pex tubing is not insulated. The kitchen 16x25 and bathroom 8x8 have the beaco morris. The kitchen is one zone by itself.Glycol was removed from system to see improvement. our circulator is taco 007.f5.and is installed on return side. Our contractor is suggesting more baseboard. We have 18 feet in bedroom(17x15) and 30 feet in living room and upstairs bedroom(21x25 each) Is this the right solution?0 -
