to Bologna, Italy in April to visit my daughter who's going to the university there. I want to visit with some heating contractors while in the area. Does anyone have any contact information?
I also need a translator while I'm there; I know how to eat Italian, but am clueless when it comes to their language.
All the best,
Alan

Florence
and Venice are also on the itinerary.
Can I write off the expense as a business trip if I check out the hydronice heating while I'm there?
Scott and Josh: Thanks for the emails. I'll check out the websites; if only they were in English.

Italian humor
I'm 110% Italian, I bleed olive oil and I got hair on my back. So, I don't want any of my goomba pisans comming after me for poking some fun at us greaseball daegos.
Here it goes, and have a safe trip Mr. Forbes:
Q. Why do Italians have brown eyes?
(Hold a salute to your forhead with your right hand).....
A. Because they're full of poop up to here.
Q. Why is Italy shaped like a boot?
A. Because you can't fit all that poop in a sneaker.
Q. Why did the Italians loose the war?
A. Because, when they sent Private Tony out for shells, he came back with ziti.
Q. Why are most Italians named Tony?
A. Because, when they came TO New York, their hand was stamped TONY.
Q. Why is there overpopulation in Italy?
A. Tony's home permanent. (only the hairdressers will get this one)
Q.Why is a helecopter like an Italian?
A. Because the big blade goes whop, whop, whop and the little blade goes guiney, guiney, guiney.
Q.When is it polite to spit in an Italian womans face.
A. When her mustache is on fire.

Italian plumbing/heating different than here for sure
I'm doing some work in Naples currently (actually heading over this Saturday, 2/8/03). When they insulate pipe, it looks like b-vent. Beautiful work. No 50/50 or 95/5 solder there, all the copper water lines are brazed. Not much copper at all actually, mostly no galvinzed and black. Generally very high level of workmanship. I've met a number of plumbers/fitters there, the ones I've met really care about their work quality.
Of course you'll find a bidet next to every toilet, and you'll see toilet brushes next to every toilet, even in hotels and public places.
There is no personal space in Italy. People will stick their elbow right in your chest if you bump in to each other, no "exuse me". At first I found that rude, but if you ask somebody for directions or help in the worst Italian from a dictionary, they'll go out of their way to help if they can. But after all that, I'm not moving.
Caio,
