Painting steam radiators

Member Posts: 1
We have a 100+-year-old steam radiator system. The previous owners painted most of the radiators with latex indoor paint which is gradually peeling, flaking and chipping.
Does anyone have tips on stripping the latex paint?
If we get them stripped, what kind of paint should be used?
Thanks!

stripping old rads
...is tough, but the latex may come off with a stong soap, hot water & a wire brush....dry them off & spray with a clear poly-ureth sealant...then paint them with an enamel top coat....i believe mr broome posted some of his refinished masterpieces using a blue cobalt oil based concoction..msybe he can repost that photo0 -

with zero degree nozzle. Quickest, most effective way I've found short of sandblasting.0
