Saved a building today...

Got a call this afternoon that the fire co. was called to a local furniture store.... they smelled smoke in the building.
I was a hour away and had a 400amp electic panel opened up, so I called my son who was 15 min away to go over and check it out... probably a motor doing a slow burn I told him....
He got there and new it didn't smell like motor so he started to check further....looked into the furnace and saw flames coming out the bottom... shut down the furnace and started to remove it... that is when the smoldering timbers under the furnace got air and flamed up!!! Quick work by him with a handy fire extiguisher saved the day!!!
Inspection of a sister unit revealed the same heat ex. problem but it just hadn't burnt through yet..... it got shut down also!!!
Now for the part that I wish I had stuck to my guns about a few years back......
I installed A/C on these units four or so years ago.... at that time I was leary of the way these units were installed....they were installed on rock board on top of 3/4 plywood laying horizontally..... yes they were rated for zero clearance on that side and they were on fire proofing material, but I still didn't have a good feeling about it and wanted to lift the units up and at least get an air space under them, but the owner stated that they had been that way for 14 years and that he didn't want to spend the extra money!!!!
Guess we grow to soon old and to late smart!!!!!!
The new furnaces will be installed .......
MY WAY!!!!!!!!!

YES!!!!
I will be getting my price, also!!!!
I must say that one of the many things that I have learned from the wall, is the value of my services!!!!
I couldn't believe my own ears when I was giving a quote on a rather large log home this week and my prices were more than I would have figured to build a whole house a few years ago!!!!
After catching his breath and picking himself from the floor, he stated that we would have to "talk".....
you see... I am convinced that I have sold myself(knowledge) to him and my ideas he loves!!!! Now he just has to convince himself that he can't afford not to install all that Quik Trac, the heavier Alum. plates, towel warmers, and those two Munchies!!! Did I say Munchies????? Yea, I'm even thinking about installing a pair of them here, can't believe I'm doin' that, but this would be an LP job and the bills will be very high, oh well, what the ......., gotta get my feet wet sometime!!!!
I'll be talking to him in the morning and I bet he will end up getting just about everything that I proposed... just when we're done he will have convinced himself that it was a good deal, because I will let him believe that it was all his idea..... that's okay.... I know better!!! :-)
