Indirect heat question

Since the absence of heat is COLD, and it is very cold here, (8-10 degrees) I’ve had reason to look at outside air thermometers a lot recently.

Out of the 5 fairly high-end units I have every one is off a degree or 5 from the others. They are all adjustable.

I want to move them all to the same spot, let them stabilize and adjust them all to read the same.

Question?? How do I determine what the correct air temperature is at the time I make the adjustments?

Do I let a glass of water come to temperature and use a fever thermometer to assess the water temperature?

Do I assume that my Honeywell PC8900 outside temperature reading is the most correct and use it as the reference?

    Temp in a container

half filled with ice and half with water will be 32°. Accurate enough for laboratory use.

    Water to air

How does that make the leap from a liquid reading to an air reading?
