i was looking at a teledyne larrs boiler today that has its share of problems. one is that the boiler shuts off and immediatly tries for ignition again. its auto ignition, a S8600F1000 control. when i disconnected the wire from the burner ground terminal at the gas valve lug the system kept running. shouldn't it have shut down? i thought that the burner ground was how it senses the signal. there is no seperate sense wire. just when i thought i was seeing the light on automatic ignition, alas darkness. any help would be appreciated.

Hi Gerry
I am tied up on the phone with another tech right now on a no heat call he is on. I will get back to you later.0 -
It was probably
grounding back through the pilot tubing. What kind of problems are you having with the Laars boiler?0 -
the burner lights,
then about 10 seconds later goes out, relights, goes out, relights, then finally stays for a few miutes then does it again. i wanted to check the micro amps thru the burner ground wire, thats why i pulled it off the gas valve terminal, i expected the flame to go out. it didn't. if it was grounding back thru the pilot tube how does it get to the control? can it be measured?0
