Fitting covers for steam piping

I believe there was a post about fitting covers for insulating steam lines and that the plastic covers don't stand up to the heat. I have come across aluminum covers, but the tees are very expensive. Twas wondering if anyone had any sugestions. Was looking at an insulation job done in the early 1980's and the fittings are all wrapped in a clothe. Where the pipe insulation ends at valves, etc., this clothe is again used to taper down to the pipe. Really is nice, and I would like to find out how to insulate piping that well.

Contact local insulation dist
from the yellow pages or ask your current supplier for leads. I haven't worked with it for yrs but "back in those days" they would hand me a bag of asbestos powder and say just add water and pack and shape the fitting. Figerglass for the pipe as it can take the high temp.0
