Too long to heat up?

with fin tube - baseboard or panels? This often happens during remodels when radiators are 'in the way' and get replaced with fin tube. The low mass fin tube dissipates heat rapidly, while cast iron radiators take longer to heat up. The inverse occurs upon cool down - rooms with fin tube cool off, while the ones with radiators slowly heat up. Greg

Too long to heat up?
I hope someone can answer my question. I have a new boiler, and maybe I just never paid atention to the old one, but it seems like it takes a long time for my living and dining room to reach the temp of the thermostat. The upstairs bedrooms get very hot while downstairs it is chilly! The radiators are getting hot and the room stays cool. For instance, it takes about 2 hours for the thermostat to go from 64 to 70 degrees! Is that too long? can it be just an insulation issue or is there a potential problem with my bioler?0 -
too long
Was anything else added or changed besides the boiler? ie. new smaller pumps, outdoor reset control, indirect water heater and if so is it on a priority zone?

the only thing that was changed was the boiler. the radiators remain the same. I even put in new valves (gorton). The radiators themselves are getting hot it just takes a long time to heat up the downstairs while upstairs is hot. The problem is that the thermostat is downstairs and it is pumping heat in the dining room while making the upstairs uncomfortably hot.0 -
Your first-floor radiators
need bigger vents, or else the second floor needs smaller vents.
And are your mains properly vented?

...is the new boiler ...
...pulling in combustion air differently than the old one?...were any openings in the boiler room closed off? maybe your pulling more infiltration into the downstairs?0
