Not getting enough heat
Christine
Member Posts: 1
I just installed a new boiler and my tenant is complainig she does not get enough heat. I have checked and replaced the valves in all the radiators, It becomes about 80 in my apartment and she still tells me the heat is not reaching her. Can someone give me some ideas of what I can do to try and fix this problem. Mind you this house is about 100 years old, the claim that the radiators are somewhat new, HELP.

Do you have
a steam or hot water system?

more info
I know that more info on your system is needed to attempt a diagnosis. Off the top of my head you should try throttling the flow down in YOUR rads so that more heat will be available to the other tennant(s). If your area is at 80 and the tennant is cold then YOU are getting most of the heat and the system is out of balance.
If your space is above the rental space, then 80* in the rental space would give you the comfort of radiant floor!
I am not a pro, but it sounds like your problem is system balance. It can take some experimentation to get it right and you will be thankful that the valves are new.

I just got
an email from Christine saying that she has a steam system. From the little I know about steam, I would say that it's a venting problem; either the radiator vent or the main vent is not working properly.

Not getting enough heat
I have the opposite problem. My downstairs apartment seems to be getting all of the heat. I set my thermostat at 80 or 90 and the house only gets to about 68. I have had 3 heating companys in here and they cannot figure it out. We have a Peerless Boiler they say is top notch.0 -
Steam system
If you are not getting enough heat you need to look at traps if it is a two-pipe, vents if it is a one pipe, wet returns, near boiler piping etc.
It would be good to post a digital picture of the boiler and near boiler piping and also to know about the size of the boiler, header, risers, mains, etc. One vs. two-pipe is critical as well.
