I am running schedule 40 PVC pipe exposed in a building. What is the best way to clean the printing and the soil off the outside of the pipe so that it looks good?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I've done that
Use clear PVC primer on a rag. I think acetone or another solvent such as laquer thinner would work as well.0 -
That I can do!
It doesn't leave the pipe "tacky"?0 -
tacky
If you use too much solvent it will tack up, but you will see how fast the writing comes off with just a little bit of solvent and a couple of wipes. I only did this on about ten feet of pipe, and it worked very easily. Just make sure you don't breath too much of that stuff ;-)0 -

Acetone
I like acetone Jim, cheaper and better than cleaner.0 -
White vinegar
Are you planning on painting the pipe? In order to get paint to take on pvc you need to strip it as others have correctly stated. Get a sponge and wh Vin and wipe it down. Acetone is the "real thing" but I've had great luck with the wh vinegar and seen some of pipe sitll looking good after 20 yrs.0
