Roth Oil Tank Valves

Fellas,
Have been having some problems with Roth Tank Valves.
Multiple and single tanks. Main problem seems vacuum loss at the fuel pump. Lines and fittings tight! All these jobs have an Oil Safety Valve properly installed and a Tiger Loop on the 2 pipe jobs. Anybody having a similiar problem?

Yep
Heard from a few serviceman that the rubber pickup tube developed a leak , or the end that sits in the oil will capsize and suck in air . Our oil tank guys have been using a standard duplex bushing , and running copper lines into the Roth tanks .0 -
Roth Service Rep
Thanks Ron. Seems like the best way to go. I've got 5 tanks with the same problem. Spoke to the service rep for my area and he claims he has not heard of these problems. Well, he's heard of them now. He also said that all Techs and installers must be certified. No reason why.
This true?

Not exactly sure
We had 2 reps for Roth come to our shop and show us how to install them . It took maybe 20 minutes . Im not sure if that makes us certified . They also told us it was OK to use a standard oil pickup instead of theirs . I know for fact that our tank installers had 2 pickup tubes that failed on the 1st try , so they dont use em anymore . Im gona ask my service manager how many had to be changed . Dont get me wrong - I think the tank in a tank idea is great - except for the oil tube .0 -
Roth
Ron:
I really like the tank in a tank idea myself. I'm going to use standard oil pickups from now on.
Can you use these for outside storage? Don't know.
A rep is supposed to come to our shop for instructions and certifications but have no idea when.
Thanks for the input.

Out side Roth tanks......
need an optional rain or weather hood but it's availiable.
I just installed my first and love the tank but the pick-up tube looked a little hokey to me so we discarded it and piped it with a steel drop pipe.

vacuum
guys,
the Roth valve has a built in check that increases vacuum lift by 1.4" causing air to come out of solution. It is recomended to use 2 pipe or Tiger loop.
ON a new install a valve will not be failed. Any failures I have seen on the drop tube were 2 seasons old. They changed the way the tube is coupled and this was supposed to be resolved.
On a new application I would say to look for (1) reversed supply and return lines, (2) 2 high suction, (3) the little nut and plug in the extension hole not being installed correctly.
10 for 9.9 prime loss problems have been from these 3 items.

PS
I agree that personally if installing a Roth Tank I would use a duplex bushing and a coper line to the bottom. No return at all... why filter 20,000 gallons of oil to deliver 800?? Use a single line.
