A: VENT STEAM OVERHEAD AT ALL ENDS WITH MAIDOMIST / GORDON # 1 VENTS ,3VENTS IS GOOD . B: DRILL AND TAP ALL STEAM RISERS AT TOP OF RISER FOR BLIND RISER OR JUST BELOW LAST RADIATOR TAKE OFF. INSTALL MAIDOMIST/GORTON 1/8" ANGLE AIR ON PIPE ,LARGEST VENT SIZE,SAME SIZE AS #1. C: INSTALL HOFFMAN # 40 AIRVENT ON ALL RADIATORS. D: CHECK HEATTIMER CALIBRATIONS ,RETURN SENSOR LOCATION ,OUTDOOR SENSOR LOCATION, CYCLETIME,IF CONTROL IS DIGITAL TRY 30 MIN CYCLE. IF BLDG HAS NO HEAT TIMER PUT ONE IN .PUT RETURN LINESENSOR AT FARTHEST (PIPE RUN)RADIATOR ON STEAM RISER JUST BELOW RADIATOR,THE SENSOR OPERATES AS AN OCCUPANCY SENSOR,THIS TELLS YOU THERE IS STEAM IN ALL RADIATORS. SHOULD BE ABLE TO SAVE +/-15% ON FUEL AND BE MORE COMFORTABLE. THIS WORKS IN ALL BLDGS 1DU TO 100+DU

Balancing heat in a large building

    Hi -

This may be a second time I have posted this message...

I live in a 17 unit coop. We have steam heat and the problem is that some apartments get heat much faster than others. Someone told me that this will be a problem if the system hasn't been master vented correctly. The building basement appears to have all the vents it is supposed to, so we were told to check the vents on the top of the stacks. Well, I understand that the risers would have vents, but what about the radiators? Are we just checking that the radiators air vents are as fast as possible? I am confused on this subject. Can anyone help me?

    Thanks!
