Munchkin problems

Installed munchkin 140 begining of november. It ran for 7 weeks no problems. Friday after xmas it locked out. LED was pulsing 3 times, flame stuck on. Renergized system and it ran ok until today. LED pulsing 4 times,no flame. Tried everything I could think of but coudn't get it to work. Flame comes on for a few seconds but shuts off. Flame rod looks ok 103volts at connection. I'm suspecting a bad board. Called factory and got VOICE-MAIL they will call tomorrow. Viessmann looking less exspensive right now. Anyone had this type of problem?

    munchkin

It seems everytime I come in hear I see another problem with these munchies, when the hell will they work the bug's out of these thing's, they sound like nice little unit's and I'm looking for a boiler ( other than) the run of the mill (600 lbs) gorilla's I'm use to installing, I posted last week about the Dunkirk's and how I thought they were a nice running unit and that I can sleep at night not having any call backs. I have installed one m80 munchie last year and called the home-owner to see if they had any problem's but they informed me they bought a contract from the gas company and would call them if they had a problem. Is munchkin a reliable boiler?...what % of these boiler's you have installed have problem's.

Not if I can help it

I have four installed with out a call back.

Mark Hunt has many more. Every boiler will have an occasionally glich. Then again there may be a field problem for your outage. Test the system for ground problems. How about contaminated intake air ?

Voice mail is tough, hopefully your problem will be resolved, tell us when it is and what the problem was. As I said many of us installed them and your problem could help us all in the future.

    Mikes mad pipes

It was a pleasure talking with you on the phone today. I guess all went well seeing I havn't heard from you since our last conversation. See only a minor problem. Sometimes what seems to be a product malfuncksion isn't and is linked to a field installed device. Love working with you guys and thanks for your support.

    more info needed Munchkin

I did one- customer request, the thing wouldn't light. No where in the manual does it talk about adjusting the air screw at the back of the gas valve... very bummed, it cost me a few hours in travel and fuss time.

It's running fine now. Please spend more time on the manuals!

I think I serviced my first Munchkin today?? Is this the same boiler as a Slant Fin Concept 21 ?? I followed the manual, checked microamp at FSR, cleaned intake screen,
    observed LEDs.

sounds so familliar I almost thought this was our job

We fired up an lp Munschkin 140M in late november. It ran, after adjusting the adjustment screw at the gas valve, flawlessly until 1/2/03. The board was flashing 4 pulses. No flame. It ended up being a frozen up gas regulator on the underground tank. It's run without a problem until sometime this weekend. We are oil folk, we only installed this unit per the customer's request for lp. We leave the service up to the gas co. The gas co worked all day, at our expense, and couldn't fix the problem. The heat is still off right now. Six thousand sq ft of radiant in an unfinished building, (no insulation or drywall yet). It has glycol in it but it's COLD. We've requested that the 2 regulators be replaced as the tank was not properly purged by the gas co at install and now has a moisture problem. They seem hesitant to do so. I've heard from other servicemen that the reg's, once subjected to freezing moisture, need to be replaced. Is this accurate info? The tech rep told us today we may need a new board. I still think it may be a gas supply problem. Oh, please let us get through this job without us losing our shirts.

    That

definately sounds like a gas company problem!!

I've got several LP Munchkins out there and I have never had the problem you describe.

    Good luck!

I understand that John Siegenthaller (sp) is helping with the new undated literature that is coming from Munchkin. I think this product is growing so fast they have a hard time keeping up. They'll get it.
