Viessmann power vent flue gas's ?

Here in Chicago we have to look long and hard for a proper vent termination. Distance from windows, air intakes, gas meters and regulators, etc.. Most homes have narrow gangways between buildings so you have to look at the neighbor's structure too if venting that way. There are also restricions on dB levels at the lot line for power vented equip. and AC condensers. Most have rear decks so invariably I tell customers that the best option is through the roof with the vent and intake for 90+ equip. I rarely add a venter and sidewall a non condesing piece of equip. If that viessmann is that efficient, do you use stainless for the vent pipe and termination? Tombig

Installed a Viessmann
Natural gas boiler and we needed to power vent it.
The unit seems to produce alot of visable flue gas. The temperature was around 30 degress when I check it and the customer says the next door neighbors ( of course ), new power vented unit dos'nt produce as much visable exhaust. I don't know whats next door could be direct vent, would that produce less visable exhaust ?
The only location for the termination hood was right under the kitchen window. If we can't remedy this, the other option is to have one of their fireplaces bricked up and a flue liner installed.
Unit is a Vitogas 100 with a KW-10 Vitronic control.
Thanks for any advice.

What do you mean
By "visible exhaust gas"? Are you refering to the amount of condensate that is coming out of the power venter discharge?
The Vitogas 100 runs right at the borderline of condensing temps for natural gas. Could be you see more because there is more, because it's more efficient than the neighbors boiler.

My Thought
Also...
Thast what I told them , but I wanted the collected wisdom of the wall to back me up.
Thanks Steve

flue gas condensate
As long as light off pressures and temps and flue gasses are to spec, it is what it is. If we sidewall any equipment, we pretty much always inform the client of the possibilit of visible steam in the flue gasses. We try for the best termination point but we note this on our contract just so it's not forgotten later.0 -
Viessmann sells
a Tjerlund powerventer for this unit. Plug-n-play like the rest. If you need a part number/price e-mail me...I would be happy to help. We have sold a few dozen Vitogas 100's and have had NO problems with venting or performance of the units. The Vitogas w/ kw10 control in my area (Chicago) is a super quiet, very reliable piece of equipment.

Viessmann
recommends stainless in the installation manual.0 -
Viessmann
Viessmann only requires stainless venting on the Vitogas 100 GS10 (not on the GS1) series and only in chimney vented applications. At 85.5% eff. it is likely that what you are seeing is condensation.

the neighbor
must have a lot of time on his hands.
The lower the exhaust temp, the more "plume" you'll see.
Just curious, do you use an electronic combustion analyzer? Wondering what the o2 is.
