Photo attachment is LARGE detail.
The best place I see to realize the TRUE shape is in the shadow on the floor below the intermediate sections. See the definite "bell shape"? It's identical on all four sides.
Some American thin-tube radiators have a similar profile, but only on the US Capitols is it so distinct. Later thin tube rads became almost purely round. I know manufacturers are renowned for using hyperbole in their literature, but this almost makes me wonder about "The Radiator Masterpiece...lines that melt in grace; contours of flawless perfection; every detail aids its capacity, not merely for more speedy transmission of heat, but for blending into the decorate scheme of any home..."

Hyperbole
American Radiator called their "Corto" large-tube unit "The Radiator Classic". Supposedly it was designed by a gentleman named Louis Courtot, of France, who stated his mission this way:
"My ambition is to design a radiator of such refined and artistic elegance, one so repeating the chaste lines of classic architecture, that in its finished state it may justly be regarded as an object of art. It must be of lesser proportions than any existing radiator, yet its warming power must equal, if not exceed that of the best now known" (from 1925 Ideal Fitter).
The original Corto had a 2-inch section width ("lesser proportions") but given the same length as a 2-column radiator of similar height, would put out more heat. I still see a lot of these 2-inchers around. Later all large-tube radiators like the Capitol, Corto and National Aero were standardized at a 2-1/2-inch section width, the same as most column radiators had.
