Bon Voyage... (ME)

After a grueling Fall and Early hard Winter at the 9,000 foot level in the Rockies, I've decided to take a WELL deserved break from the rigors of hydronics. The LLA and myself will be going on a cruise tomorrow. We'll be on the water for one week, and then spend another week loafing around Florida, hopefully awaiting a Space Shuttle launch.

Take care my friends, and as I told LuAnn, "The only walk I don't want to take on this vaction is the Norwalk..."

See you in two weeks!

  • That V-16 powers

not a propeller, methinks. A generator, yes?

Now show us what runs the HUGE refrigeration/AC systems. And how did they figure the heat/cooling loss for that floating hotel?

I wish I had photo's of the beautiful 300hp, 220v D.C. variable speed ammonia compressors that froze & chilled the Lamb, cheese and milk produce that we brought from New Zealand to England back in 69 & 70.

The "MV.Port Pirie & MV.Port Littleton" were built in 1946 (4 yrs before I was born), and had no electroncs whatsoever, unless you count tube radio as electronics, that is. All communications with the world, were by Morse tapping, honestly.

Our first mate had an "Akai" reel to reel tape deck that made the ship stuff look like it belonged in a museum.

Am I really this old :O) Maybe time for a cruise.

Have a great time, Mark. I know you're taking more pics of the "mechanical room".

    Cheers, Brian in chilly swampland.
