The furnance only feels warm in one area it seems normal or at least on par of how it has felt in the past. It is about 30 yrs old, we have only been in the house for about 1 yr. We did have it inspected an Inspector who thought is was in good shape. We also had it inspected by PSE&G, the person thought it was in great shape, very clean with no problems?
It is blowing air just not hot air0 -
A litlle difficult
I am sorry that you are not getting many answers as to why you furnace doesn't work. Unfortunately it is extremely difficult to guess what is wrong with something without getting any specifics. This is why it is important that you find a good professional to service your furnace. That said have you checked these things: oil in tank, if gas have you paid the bill this month? (kidding) Check the electrical switches, depending how old or big you furnace is there may be a different circuit which actually runs the fire. Have you remaoved the cover of the furnace, some furnaces have a safety switch that interrupts power to the fire when the door is open (but usually the blower would run either. Check your thermostat, maybe the heat/cool selector is off but the fan switch is placed at 'on' and not 'auto'. It could be a blown fuse inside the furnace, some newer models use automotive type fuses. Just please do not touch anything that says "reset once only". Again I would recommend you call a proffesional. Try the "Find a Contractor" section on this website, there may be a great technician in your area!

Update - worked for a little
I turned it off for about 1/2 hour. Turned it on and it was working fine for about 15 min. Then the hot air blowing turned to cool air.
Any ideas??0 -

check
the temp rise across the furnace with a thermometer you
should have about a 40 to 50 degree rise across the furnace.
That means if you got 60 degree going into the return, you will have 110 coming out the supply.
It sound's like a return line has come loose in you are sucking in air from the attic or crawlspace.
Where is your ductwork in the attic or crawlspace?0 -
blowing cool air
Have you checked your air filters. If they are plugged it will cut down heat output substantially.0 -
When you say the \"flame is lit\"
what are you seeing? A strong pilot or a string of flames along the burners?
