Truck ideas

Two stories came to mind about truck advertising:
1) Contractor has ten trucks. He paints one side of truck white and the other side green. Customers keep saying they see his trucks all over town but it sometimes is the same truck headed in a different direction.
2) Contractor offers "23-Hour Service." Why? Everybody else offers 24-hour service and when he is asked about the one hour of non-service, he replies "That's commute time."
Got any clever ideas?

That just
reminded me about one of Dan's past articles (I forget which magazine). But the story was about a contractor who kept changing the number on his truck so potential customers thought he was part of a big company. Thanks for the memory Dan.... for me to remember it from so long ago you must be a good writer huh? Keep it up

Trucks
A guy I used to play hockey with had a one-man carpet cleaning operation. He used a professional answering service and his van was lettered very simply as larger companies often do. His van had a four digit number.0 -
Several companies around here advertise 23 1/2 hour service. Does that mean less travel time around here? (Yea right). or is that half hour for lunch. Can't figure that one out.
My previous boss used to number the trucks using the numbers from the best players on the Chicago Bears (this of course after they one the superbowl in '85). The highest truck number was 95 i believe, even though there were only eight trucks.

Best Football Player(s) numbers
It sounded like a good idea for us to use, UNTIL:
(1) We thought it wouldn't be a good idea to have numbers on our trucks of injured players. (Would that mean the trucks would be broken down?)
(2) We'd worry about the trucks running into crowds every time the techs completed a job. (touchdown)
(3) How impressive is it to have one truck that runs perfectly every day with the number "4" on it?
Then again, on the positive side, wouldn't it be great to have trucks that outperform the competition under the worst possible conditions?

Yah hey der Tom, you Cheesehead
Just kiding Yeah I and every other Bears fan deserve a ribbing after the pathetic season the Bears had.
As far as your responses go
1)With the old trucks we had, the truck numbers had nothing to do with which ones broke down and when. They all broke down at least a few times a year. The truck I had was a retired U-Haul mini truck with at least 300,000 miles on it.
2) Considering my original truck, if it ever hit anythin it probably would have dissengrated and the crowd never would have felt a thing.
3) This never applied to my old boss finally leased new trucks and numbered them 10,20,30,40 etc. By this time the bears already sucked enough that acknowledment of thier numbers was a bad omen.
Now my current employer has all very new trucks and the numbers of anything with wheels are completely real. My current truck # is 222, because it is vehicle #222, simple as that.
Have a good weekend, Tom. Maybe the Bears will win some games next year(hahahahaha).

The Packers
You mean "Da Bears" had a team playing this year? Hmmm...I really didn't know. I thought the rest of the Division took the year off.
Let's find out if I still claim them after tonight.
Best Regards, (even if you are a Flatlander.) 8-)
