diverter \"T\" system add on

Existing 1939 house with origional diverter T system and very nice old cast iron radiatiors. House very confortable and fairly efficient. Second story being added and basement undergoing renovation thus both these areas (basement and top floor) will need hydronic heat. Options: (1) Tear out the diverter T system and re-plumb the whole house or (2) Keep the diverter as one of the secondary loops in a primary / secondary injection pumping scheme? Serve the new areas (basement and second floor) with new secondary loops. Suggestions or other alternatives welcomed!
