Replacing Old Boiler
Gary Rouzer
Member Posts: 2
I am thinking about replacing a 22 year old Weil-McClain boiler with something new. The old boiler works fine, but am interested in saving oil fuel cost. Are new boilers that much better? What make would you recommend? The current boiler works fine, I know that some day it will need to be replaced and don't want it to be a surprise. I would rather replace it before it breaks when I can be ready for the cost.
Thanks

Steam or hot water?
If its steam you won't improve the efficiency enought to pay for it. My 23 year old WM also works fine and has the same efficiency rating as the new ones. Same model series, EGH.0 -
Sorry forgot to mention that it is hot water. Would another make be better or is the WM one of the best?0 -
W-M makes some nice boilers
but the most important thing is the installation! Go to the Find a Contractor page of this site to locate a local Wethead. Then talk to him about boilers. There are many good ones out there.
