Steam return piped into priming port plug of bucket trap

Dear fellow steamheads:
I recently encountered a steam return for a commercial steam iron piped into the priming port of a bucket trap. The bucket trap primarily serves the steam press. The steam iron works fine but I wonder if the bucket trap priming port can be used as a return.
