Interesting CO tests
I ran some tests for the Holidays on some typical Holiday activities. I thought some of you might be interested in what I found.
4 candles lit and in very close proximity of one another
55 PPM.
A decorative gas fireplace sitting in front of it with glass doors open 1200 PPM. I closed the doors real quick on that sucker.
One candle in a bathroom, may have been other problems there I am not sure but 15 ppm.
Gas range with 4 top burners and the oven going about 1 foot above the cook top 400 ppm, in the oven vent 500 ppm. Not my range by the way.
Just tonight my wife had the gas oven on and I tested mine it is 17 ppm. I just recently put it through its semi-annual self cleaning cycle and cleaned the burners and adjusted. I do that twice every year as I know what a hazard gas ovens can be. I also have a range hood above the range.
Down stairs family room at the pool table with about six people smoking in the area, one cigar no ventilation 300 ppm.
Wood burning stove at the vent out doors 2700 ppm, inside the house 75 ppm in front of the unit they shut it off it needs new rope gaskets around the door and some serious adjustments.
Can't you just see I was the life of the festivities.
It goes on open fireplace at my son-in-laws house with a roaring fire just started 15 ppm in front of fireplace, 15 minutes later 0 ppm inside the flue 10 ppm. I found that very interesting I think it is because of so much air being drawn in.
Happy Holidays be careful!!!

Timmie,
You ARE the party animal !
Some interesting measures though . OSHA could conceivably have a field day in (more likely than not ) most homes during the holidays . Funny....the lowest emitter was the oldest type of fire thats been used.
Happy New Year to you and the family . Chris0 -
that one fireplace sounds bad
thats okay, i'm always scoping out the plumbing. i even got my wife doing it. we graded how well the los vegas casino's were by how decorative and fancy the restrooms of the common areas were. you must have gotton some good comments from folks after they'd had a few brewskis while you were running around with your meter.0
