Tekmar 363 problem

Markus
Markus Member Posts: 9
once more I have to ask for the help of all the great people here on the wall.

My system is: Outdoor wood boiler, back up Propane, 4 Baseboard zones, 1 domestic HW zone. HX between Outdoor and Indoor system. Controled by Tekmar 363.
everything worked fine for the last few months, then yesterday the control started to get all the heat from the Propane boiler. and it wont switch back to the outdoorboiler. there is enough heat out there, and I dont understand why it wont switch back.
When i run a test on the Tekmar unit, everything works fine. no error message displayed.
can you help....??...

    Check the sensors

I have had a few bad ones lately. The installation manual gives you the resistence readings for checking them. An ohm meter will be needed.

Also check connections, look for a broken wire at the terminal strip. Often solid thermostat wire will break, at the end, if the wire stripper cut to deeply.

Pretty easy for a wire to come lose or slip out of that small terminal strip, check there also. Tekmar has a good tech support number also.

    363

How is the 363 wired to this system ?? I read up on 363 & see nothing pertaining to separate heat sources. Only 1 set of boiler contacts. Perhaps a diagram or description of how this unit is wired would help in determining your problem. Not a good thing @ Christmas ?!?.

    Check for a switching relay...

    Hi Markus,
There has to be some kind of swithing relay controlling
which boiler should be operating. If the water temperature
in the wood boiler drops to a certain setpoint, then the
aquastat should signal the propane boiler to take over.
There may be a faulty transformer or relay causing the
problem. If everything works fine with the propane boiler, I
would not suspect the 363. Not being able to see the wiring
    diagram, I'm just guessing.
    Merry Christmas

    Thanks

Thanks for all the help. Everything running ok again. Must have been a bad contact after all. And of course it healed it self as I was just going to dial the Tekmar number.
And once more Mike from Tekmar here in BC was a big help.
Thanks to all of you who tried to help me.
All the best from the West, Markus
