Fire-eye question for timmie or anyone

Brother Mark's smokehouse burner won't light up. I have good spark at the electrode and gas at the outlet of the pilot solenoid. I have a hunch that the pilot is igniting but the fire-eye isn't working. I can hold a flame in front of the eye while the burner is in pre-purge and I don't read any voltage at the flame amp. If the control sees a flame before the pre-purge is done it should lock out if I'm remembering correctly. (Am I?) The pilot is hidden inside the burner so you can't actually see if it's lighting or not. Question is how do you tell if it's the eye or the flame amplifier that's gone nuts. Is there a resistance reading that the U-V sensor should read??
Thanks in advance guys

What is the Fireye Number?
Is it UVM or TFM?
UVM uses ultra-violet detection
TFM uses a flame rod or it may also have a photocell.
I am assuming you have UV, Across the test jack for UVM you should read 4 to 5.5 volts DC, Fireye uses DC voltage on this system not microamps. The detector may just ned the glass cleaned and at the same time a good idea to clean the pilot.
It would help if I had some exact numbers on the system. Also get the number on the detector.
You are correct on a false flame but if it does not see the regular pilot it will not pick up any flame and will lockout due to failure to light.0 -
Seems like
I saw UA-1 on the eye. The flame amp section of the control is a MAUV-1. The glass is spotless.0 -
WUT .........???
No smokehouse, please say it ain't so !!! them's were some great eating, and a special thanks to you ,your brother and the special delivery to our table !! do we need to drive up there to get this baby up and runnin or what??
Murph' (keeping my fingers crossed)0 -
Have no Fear Murph
It was the fire-eye U-V sensor itself that was bad. Mark had to drive 200 miles round trip to find a place that had one in stock but she's a-making jerky as we speak.0 -
In that case
as you have found out you need a new UV detector.0
