Eating up the education
Alan, I'm just wondering and trying to learn at the same time. So I have a question. I'm sure that most of that was caused by a low stack temp and possible an inadequate vent system.
But I noticed in one of the photos (MVC-003F.JPG) There was no drip leg at the gas valve. Is it possible that this contributed to adding moister through the combustion process increasing the amount condensation? Remember what I know about gas you could fit in a thimble But I love learning! Thanks
Your friend in the industry,
Alan R. Mercurio

no liner
Lost this job a few years ago low bid apparently didnt think a liner was needed.0 -
Pacific Gas and Electric
is our local gas supplier and they guarantee delivery of natural gas that is moisture free.
This job was really an anomaly 'cause I've never seen a boiler condense this badly.
All the best,
Alan

Any idea...
what the culprit was on that little Lochinvar? I sure don't like the flue reducer - that's a no-no in my book.
We did a couple of jobs with oversized boilers and had real condensation problems in outside exposed chimneys. One had moisture just oozing out of the brick. On both, a flexi liner solved the problem. Getting a 6" liner down a 6 1/2 x 10 tile liner is murder though!0
