This was fun
O.K. so you've all seen jobs where you can' believe what the origenal installed did right ?
We'll here's a good one for you. I could'nt believe that some one would do this to a boiler let alone pipe it this way.
This is a small cottage type home. A dirt floor crawl space that has been Hell to get into and work on. These first photos show the hole where thie poor slantfin gas boiler was forced to live. Thats Steve one of our installers looking up from the hole.
You had to step on the boiler to get into the crawl space AND THEN the guy put supply and return piping OVER the hole to really make it tough.
Check this out....

SO when the boiler went under water ...
We talked the owner into a Munchkin and we would put it upstairs thanks to the direct vent and size of these units.
I told the owner we would have a stand built and he said " No, no, this is what I do , metal fabrication".
Check out the powder coated stand this guy made. We may have to sell them to HTP. I had it sized for the Super-Stor in case the amtrol was ruined when we got it out of the pit, it was !!
We piped everything upstairs and then ran Stadler Fostapex down in the crawl space to the original piping, where we had built some manifolds . This job was installed with ALL toespace heaters, since the originall installer had no imagination to think of panels rad, or radiant ( "you don't need that junk ").
The owner now has a safe, fuel efficient system, and WE don't have to go in the crawl space any more .
Also this has the new remote access boiler control. We put it on the Taco relay.
This was the job my electricain smoked the board on and I dropped my cell phone into the sump pit while checking the piping. Alls well that ends well.
Merry Christmas
Scott

Thanks for the kind words.
The flue goes right out the back. The circs are behind the WM. Thats not where would would have likes them but this place is tiny. This is a closet off the living room.
I'll try and get pictures of the house it really is kinda neat. Allthought the two MEN who lived ther before did have alittle different taste for decorating.

Ric Murray wasn't standing there with his earphones and camera......0 -
Looks like fun
Scott,
Tell the crew they did a nice job. By the way, did you have to remove the old boiler? That gravity thing probally worked pretty good when it was going in, but I bet it was a pain in the a$% trying to get the old one out.

Hey Scott
Very nice work.It is a pleasure to see top end work after looking at all these bad jobs all day.Keep up the good work.0 -
Gentleman......
Please let me be the one to say .....Mr. Milne is certainly glad there were no michrophones around at that time . Blue streak doesn't even begin to describe the "prolific wording" that flowed from the pit . ( I got the said plunged cellphone about a second and a half/25 swear words after the event). Excrement occurs ! What can we do about it ?
This is an install that the company CAN be proud of . I wish I was further involved , but "due to circumstances beyond my control , I was unable to attend said gathering" . (Except for the above mentioned bad-word-athon) Makes me proud to work for "THE party giver" Chris0 -
You better
get better faster Chris!!!
God bless you and keep you!!
Have a very merry Christmas!!!!
