Furnace X-rays???

Guys,

In my area of the country there is a HVAC company advertising "Hydroscan" which they claim was created during the gulph war. They claim they can X-ray your furnace in order to check for even micro cracks in the heat exchanger!
(At $99.00 a pop) Ever hear of this?? Maybe it should be called MICROSCAM?

John

    We use a

borescope with a 24" flexible tip to look up HeatX's, but this sounds like a water device with the term hygro...???
Do you know what they use? I think next year we will incorporate this (borescope) as a usual and customary inspection process in our Fall Light Up service program. Only takes a very little more time to insert up most HeatX's. Greg

    X-Ray

Well, I'd have to say that you can use X-Ray on metal because that is how they do some of the testing on welds.
