Barometrics versus draft hoods

Timmie, I missed your converstion on barometrics and drafthoods. Your posting on 1-17-03 is in response to some question that was posed, but it did not appear with your answer. It was once told to me by a high authority that the most dangerous device ever invented was a drafthood and the sooner they are obsoleted they better. I supervised the Field Report on Barometric Modifications on Drafthood appliances with a top AGA engineer, Field Controls and my students. The report states that in all cases barometrics made equipment safer than their original drafthoods. I always tell people check with their local lawyer to see who has and accepts ultimate liability for unsafe operation. But unless someone has proper training and proper test equipment they shouldn't make modifications. If fact they should not be allowed in peoples houses!
