Opinions on Thrush

in the Baltimore area, but parts have been difficult to find. A lot of the ones on converted gravity systems were oversized anyway so I generally put in properly-sized units. I do have a couple of o-l-d vertical Thrushes sitting in my basement though- one has 1-1/2" unions instead of flanges.

Speaking of which- I have the B&G and Taco procedures for sizing circs on gravity conversions (which didn't always get followed), dating to the 1940s. Haven't been able to find Thrush's method yet- would you happen to have it on some dusty bookshelf?

    Any Opinions on Thrush

I am new to the heating field (but experienced in steam) and now I am associated with Thrush. Not much mention of this company on the wall. Does anyone have good or bad experiences with Thrush material so I will know what to look out for?

    Lots of....

Old circulators and bearing assemblies replaced , when we could find them . I thought the whole Co. was bought up by Amitrol . That was where we used to go for replacement bearing assys. . So many different circulators , too many parts to stock . Whats the story now ? Chris.

    Thrush and Amtrol

Amtrol bought Thrush a number of years ago. Then Amtrol went public and spun Thrush off, but retained a marketing agreement where Thrush manufactured items and private labelled them under the Amtrol name. Now this agreement has ended, so that people can get the items straight from Thrush, leaving Amtrol in 'hot water'.

circulators were used when we did a high temperature job; candle factory that needed to melt a lot of wax quickly and they didn't want to use steam.

Our supplier recommended Thrush circulators to handle the continuous elevated temperatures. They work fine except the seals need to be replaced every few years; had to special order the seal kits.
