Can i use a hydronic heat loss to size a furnace?

is a BTU, Jack..if we are talking about conventional Manual J heat loss, then the answer is yes. If A/C is involved, then the latent gain would need to be adressed and an appropriate blower CFM/ firing rate relationship established. Rarely, if ever, will you find the cooling load the same as the heating load.
