Project Heat

Last Saturday a group of HVAC contractors from a Detroit-area chapter of the Michigan ACCA got together (for the 15th straight year) and performed free inspections, tune-ups and repairs to furnaces in the home of 56 senior citizens. They also distributed free CO detectors. These people are the unsung heroes who get little media attention. I tried, and failed, to get the local media out there to cover this "feel good" story. Not news to them.
I did manage to make the publisher of The Detroit Free Press feel guilty enough to send out a reporter to do a follow-up story. It's always an uphill struggle but it's worth it when the "good guys" get their much-deserved recognition. I'm always open to your feel-good stories, too.
