special radiators

When I have more time I can go into more detail, but basically, I'm trying to bring the 100 year old plus house back to her former glory and even beyond...we've added some details that were not here before....like a widows walk on house.... cupola on barn brick fireplace. Chuck: I'm doing it because I love steam...want to keep the Art alive well into the next century. It will be primarily one-pipe except a very large oversized Bundy that I will be using. The rads have been collected over the last two years as I came across them. I will definitely be chronicling the whole project at the end so you won't miss a thing

type of project
MD...
I can see that this is an old house, is this being done to restore it to "it's former glory" or is there another reason that you wanted to do a steam system. Is it going to be one pipe or two pipe. What type of boiler are you going to be using?

American Architecture is so fun...
...I see elements of Queen Annn, Colonial Revival, Italianate, 2nd Empire and possibly just a touch of Craftsman.
Were the radiators "bronzed?"0 -
HEY Mad Dog, Look what I found in the NEWS
Radiators as we know them date to 1863, when Joseph Nason and Robert Briggs patented a new design featuring vertical wrought iron tubes screwed into a cast iron base. Each tube was proportioned to have exactly 1 sq ft of surface when screwed into the base, allowing many standard sizes of radiators to be manufactured. Nelson Bundy invented the first popular cast iron radiator in 1874. By the 1880s, cast iron sectional radiators became very popular.
