Electronic air gate on the Riello

last Friday . I wasnt one of the crews to use them , but I heard both of them had a problem .

These new ones require a hot wire directly from a safety high limit , and a hot from the operating high limit ( which also gets powered after the safety high limit ) . Since we didnt know that this shipment had the new air dampers , both crews didnt have the safety high limit . So what they did was run a direct power wire in place of the one from the safety high limit , and ran the one from the operating high limit . Both of their burners kept running past the set point of the aquastat . There was no chance they mixed up the hot wire and the operating limit wire - these guys are good . Anyone else having troubles with these burners ? Could it be wired wrong internally , or are we doing something completely wrong ? The thing of it is - even if they ran that hot wire through a safety limit , the burner would have ran till the safety would shut it down - making the safety an operating limit - a big no no . What they did was run all the power through the operating limit - even though the instructions say not to do it .

I have not installed one yet but thanks for the warning. No one puts more in than your company so you will have to keep us informed on this. Iam putting one in tomorow, i hope i get old stock. From Jack
  • I think

I am installing one tomorrow also . Im gonna look into seeing if any manufacturer makes a dual or triple aquastat with an extra safety built in . I think I asked this before . Adding an extra well an aquastat to every job makes the operation of the system more safe , but itll cost more in time and parts . And I dont like those surface mounted aquastats .
  • Riello Air gate

Ron, I looked in my training manuals and it doesn't cover the newest air gate. Mark Nelson is the area manager in my area. 1-800-4-RIELLO ext. 306. Maybe he can help. I met him at school in Brockton MA, Old Colony Tech and Trade.

    Is this...

like the old style air gate that the 35 series had? I was wondering why they got rid of that? kpc

The R35 didn't have an air gate.
The 40 opens with hydraulics provided by the oil and pressure from the pump. I can be wrong, I am a rookie! But still learning and lovin' it!

I've found the rich, cold and miserable.
