Ph & Dissolved solids test kit

Hi Fellas:
Anybody know where I would obtain a Ph & dissolved solids testing kit? (It's for testing the water in Steam Boilers.) I'd like a professional kit, not like the ones you find in swimming pool stores.

Try a web search
Hach makes fine equipment. Page through a Graingers catalog or online for a good selection of testers from various manufactures, also.

Another Place...
To look would be USA Bluebook. They have a website; www.usabluebook.com
It is geared for the water and wastewater operations industry, but it is informal w/ not much B.S. - kind of like The Wall! Hach is an excellent choice HR, others include Fisher and Orion...depending on your wallet.
One item in general about pH meters. I would think you would want to read to the nearest "tenth" on the scale (7.7, 7.8, etc.). Be careful with the portable units, because they read that close WHEN they are working right...keep the probe(s) wet w/ DI (or equiv.) water and calibrate each time.
I know you guys probably hate to calibrate every time, but if you don't they could be off by 4 or 5 tenths...pretty big difference between 7.2 and 6.7 on the ol' scale. And don't keep pouring the buffer solution (calibration liquid) back into it's original containerafter calibration...after a short time the whole thing is container may be out. Just keep a tiny bottle of "7" buffer with the probe in it, and that usually works pretty well. A small squirt bottle of DI water will clean the probe nicely after each use...plus if your buddy is razzing you too much you can shoot him with it when needed :-)
Hope this helps, PJO
