Priming/Painting Radiators

I am in the process of preparing a room for re-painting. The house is approximately 48 years old...so the radiators are NOT 'antique.' The hot-water low-profile radiator will have to be stripped of years of paint. What is the best prime to use, if recommended...notice there is a grey prime on the radiator now. Also, can I use a flat latex paint on the radiator as a finish coat? Posted 01/20/03.

    renewing radiators

I replaced all my old convectors with cast iron radiators around two years ago. Found twelve radiators with years of paint, etc... I found someone to sandblast them, which got all the paint and any rust, then I had them powder coated, which comes in many colors, we used gold. The coating provides a durable and long lasting finish. Cost was $70-90 each depending on the size. If you can remove the radiator, it may be worth it to find a metal shop to help you out.
